City of Port Washington, W.I.

Port Washington, WI, with its touch of New England charm, is nestled on the Wisconsin shore of Lake Michigan, just north of Milwaukee. We invite you to take some time to see all we have to offer.

One of the first things you’ll see, coming down the hill to the lake, is the Art Deco lighthouse. Whether you are boating, fishing, walking on the beach or in any of the lakeside parks, this iconic symbol of the community keeps watch at the end of a half-mile long pier.
st-marys-with-yellow-flowers-2Our downtown is lakeside, and offers unique local shopping and dining destinations – all housed in historic storefronts. Explore the history, and our stories, by following a self-guided walking tour, as well as visiting our museums. The 1860 Light Station Museum shares the stories of a lighthouse keeper in the 19th century. The Port Exploreum uses 21st century technology to engage you in local and maritime history, as well as the ecology of Lake Michigan.
