The Joint Ocean Commission Initiative (JOCI) is a collaborative, bipartisan effort of experienced thought-leaders and ocean champions that catalyzes meaningful ocean policy reform and calls for action at the national, regional, and state levels. Among entities working on ocean and coastal policy issues, JOCI is unique in its ability to provide high level, credible, and bipartisan leadership and engagement on ocean and coastal policy issues. Among its activities, JOCI serves as a trusted advisor to key members of the Administration and Congress and brings together all sectors of the ocean community to identify urgent priorities, communicate them effectively to decision makers, and cultivate and educate ocean champions. The Joint Initiative is guided by a bipartisan Leadership Council co-chaired by The Honorable Christine Todd Whitman and the Honorable Norman Y. Mineta.
